How To Embed A Youtube Video On A Basic Html Webpage?

I have a few short video game clips on Youtube and would like to embed them in a little HTML webpage. I tried copying/pasting the embed code that’s found to the right of the Youtube video into the webpage but it didn’t show up when I ran the webpage. Any suggestions? Do I need to download any special software to make it work? Thanks.
